Christians, why is being in a "flock" good?

I'v heard many many christians say they are part of their churches flock also say the lord is their Sheppard and so on. But do you guys actually take time to go back and think about what a flock actually is? Call the police first. They have a much better chance than you of catching and subduing the robber. A retired cop told me that a homeowner should not shoot a robber in the front yard and if the homeowner does shoot a guy in the yard, that he should drag the body inside the house. Put it this way... If you want to learn a Martial Art for self defense purpose only then Krav Maga is possibly the best thing out there. It teaches you everything from how to remain calm in a life or death situation to effectively disarming somebody with a gun to your back or head. I trained in it for one month when my friend gave me a free one month membership for a school he signed up in. I literally learned more in a day then I learned in a week of Muay Thai classes. The instructor I had took his job very seriously and made sure that by the time class ended everybody knew how to effectively use the techniques he taught that day. Find a good school with a good instructor and I guarantee you will love it. If I could afford it, no doubt I would be going everyday of the week. It is so fun!

Did my neighbor have the right to pull out a gun on my family & me for being on their property?

On Mother's Day...my family (my husband & I & our 3 kids - ages 2, 5, & 10) decided to take a 4 wheeler ride to a small creek near our house. The only way to get there, without driving on a busy highway, was to cross a short distance in the ditch near the highway, which happened to be my neighbor's large front yard. We stayed as close to the edge of their property as possible & drove extremely slow - so as not to leave any marks in their yard. It was not until our way back home that my neighbor came outside, yelling loudly at my husband. My husband stopped the 4 wheeler, got off of it, and walked towards my neighor. He seemed VERY angry - his face bright red - and demanded to know why we were trespassing. My husband explained that he didn't think it would be a problem & that he was trying to be respectful by driving slowly & as close to the highway as possible. My neighbor was not excepting this & became more & more angry & more & more argumentative. Meanwhile, myself & kids are sitting on the 4-wheelers, waiting. Next I see my neighbors wife walking up from the back of her house, with a HANDGUN at her side. CLEARLY at her side - pointing down, nonetheless...but my goodness! Did she really need to carry a handgun to this dispute? To make a long story short, I couldn't hold my tongue - drove my kids home to wait with their Grandma - who was at my house visiting. And walked back to the arguement & said my peice. I thought it was definately wrong to bring a handgun out & near my children was enough to make this momma VERY protective. The neighbors ended up calling the sheriff on US, because they stated we were trespassing & they had a RIGHT to carry a concealed weapon to protect their property. I would like to know if they had a right to do this? We were clearly unarmed & NOT posing any sort of a threat to them - just out for a leisurely, family atv ride, on a nice MOTHER's DAY! Am I wrong?

I'm Gay But I Don't Like The Gay Community?

I agree on lots of these points. Overly flamboyant gay guys don't really annoy me but I feel as though I could understand why you feel annoyed. I think that a lot of people see them as more of a novelty, outrageous for the sake of outrageous, and not as real people. Also, many "more masculine gays" (maybe yourself?) resent the fact that they are stereotyped into that category just because they are gay. Me, I dislike the fact that a persona like that leaves little room for subtlety. I also am very upset with the approach that the community takes toward sex. It worries me that the public gets the idea that we are slutty and are sex-crazed. It worries me even more that some people are legitimately like that. From a scientific perspective, sex is the most important thing for any organism. However, the point of being human is elevating yourself away from other organisms. For a romantic like myself, this is a depressing situation. I wish that we could move away from this sexual liberation message that stopped being relevant a while ago and move onto what it is to be really proud of what it means to be gay. We need to show that gay relationships are just as loving and legitimate as straight ones.

Someone killed in boating accident-opinions?

A family of four is on the water with no witnesses, 2 stories came out of the Coroner's Office on the . day of the death. 1) The Dad is leaning over and messing with the propeller (with the engine running in both stories!) and the 11yr old son puts the boat in gear, Dad falls off the boat, the Mom then puts the boat in reverse and runs over him. 2) The Dad is in the water some feet away from the boat, the son puts the boat in reverse and runs over him, the Mom puts the boat in gear and runs over him again. I am sure there is confusion, but I don't understand how the Mom doesn't know if the Dad is ON or OFF the boat (a 24ft boat) before the accident. She might have changed the story because she couldn't abide the thought of people thinking she ran over him, she clearly thought the story would not get out about her son hitting his Dad. But if she wanted to protect him, why change the story in the first place? Unless she couldn't stand the thought of people thinking she was the one at fault, which is consistent with her personality. Also, there was the matter of money. She lives for dinner parties at her home, which she loves to show off, she has more photos of her home than of her kids. Very materialistic, it's extremely likely that they had financial problems, due the amount going out & their business is the type to drop off in this economy. The insurance policy from his death would have assured they/she wouldn't have to sell anything, the condo, the house, the cars, the boat etc, something she couldn't abide due to her pride. She told me she never broke down once since his death (pride?) and has lost a lot of weight since his death, has been doing Coke, and has been partying incessantly since his death. Sorry this is long. I love him very much although hes annoying at times he's my best friend in a way and knows me/understands me better than anybody including my other best buds. i was in the marines for 5 years, when my service was over i received honorable, in 25 years i have not even received a traffic ticket (thats the truth) ..i have a perfectly clean record, a high school diploma, ..i also have a secret security clearance, i also went and got my level 3 security certification, ....i got out of the marines in 2009, and still unemployed......i have applied to 17 different police departments, i got 2 interviews out of it...after both interviews, they sent me letters saying "they hired someone else"....then i applied to L.A. police...they didnt even let me get to the interview stage because of affirmative action..im white, so the odds are against me i know.....i applied to the secret service....passed the test, took an interview, passed that, did a panel interview, passed that, took a polygraph, then they scheduled me for another polygraph, and then i think theyve dropped me from the process since i haventheard from them in over a year...i applied to dozens of security companies to be an armed or unarmed guard, 1 call back, i did an interview, then they said everythings good, then never called me back...i called them back and they say "if we need u we will call u"....i applied to the terrel tx jail as a corrections officer, a few weeks after i applied i called them to see if thery were considering me, they said they lost my application....so i turned in another one, and they are giving me the runaround again now....i applied to the van zandt corrections, they sent me to take a drug test, pshyc eval, and physical, then when i did all that, i called them to ask whats next, and they hired someone else and told me no.......now i have to go to these special places that help crackheads, criminals, and homeless people find work, and tell them i need help too....i am a U.S. Marine, I fought in Iraq, and now i sit between a criminal and a crackhead in a lobby and wait to be called to the front so i can tell them my info so they can put me to work somewhere.....its sad, really.

It just seems to me in my many experiences that a lot, (not all), but a lot of people that are in upper management are either, really stupid, giant a$$ kissers, or total screw ups. Most managers just talk and don't listen. You can tell them something and you know by looking at them that they're just waiting to talk and not listening at all. Is this really who we want in charge? Why does this happen so often. My last manager couldn't count. He needed a calculator to give me change for a five. I agree on lots of these points. Overly flamboyant gay guys don't really annoy me but I feel as though I could understand why you feel annoyed. I think that a lot of people see them as more of a novelty, outrageous for the sake of outrageous, and not as real people. Also, many "more masculine gays" (maybe yourself?) resent the fact that they are stereotyped into that category just because they are gay. Me, I dislike the fact that a persona like that leaves little room for subtlety. I also am very upset with the approach that the community takes toward sex. It worries me that the public gets the idea that we are slutty and are sex-crazed. It worries me even more that some people are legitimately like that. From a scientific perspective, sex is the most important thing for any organism. However, the point of being human is elevating yourself away from other organisms. For a romantic like myself, this is a depressing situation. I wish that we could move away from this sexual liberation message that stopped being relevant a while ago and move onto what it is to be really proud of what it means to be gay. We need to show that gay relationships are just as loving and legitimate as straight ones.
